Hi, my name is Jay.
I'm a freelance frontend web developer, designer, and musician - currently in the final year of studying BA (Hons) Graphic Design at UWE Bristol.
Work
Satellite USA
UWE Final projectThe year is 2026: the gravest crimes against humanity are live-streamed and normalised to such an extent that nuclear detonation now exists as a betting market. Wealth inequality has never been higher, whilst the richest in society actively fund hate campaigns and political movements targeting the most marginalised groups and communities. Nothing works properly, and we are increasingly priced out of the most basic necessities.
40 years on from neoliberalism, Satellite USA is an accountability project. It is the product of my ongoing personal journey in politics, observation, and historical analysis of a broken economic model that doesn’t work.
Viewed through a satirical, dystopian lens and through a wide variety of formats, including print, fabrication, embroidery and music, this series of outcomes aims to explore various modern geopolitical and social factors - with a specific focus on the continuing rise of American influence within our own national politics.
Creative Conscience [2024]
“Let’s talk about ADHD” - Creative Conscience brief response from second year (2024).
Selection of assets taken from a series of poster designs exploring various stigma around ADHD and the impact of oversimplification of disabilities through romanticisation on social media.
Heavily informed by primary and secondary research - as well as my own lived experience prior to (and since) formal diagnosis & treatment.
In order (with original text):
- Time Blindness “Adults with ADHD often experience time differently, leading to struggles with deadlines, punctuality and effective time management.”
- RSD (Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria) “Children and adults with ADHD may have intense emotional reactions to criticism, with feelings that can linger for days, weeks, or even months.”
- Impulsivity “According to a YouGov survey, an estimated 60% of individuals with ADHD lose £1600 per year to impulsive spending and forgetfulness.”
- Inattention / ‘romanticisation’ of ADHD “We should always celebrate our individual strengths and differences, but we must also stay mindful of the unique challenges that come alongside them.”
